The 5 Most Common Scams & How to Avoid Them

1. Advance Deposit Trap to "Hold" the item 💸

The Trap: A fraudulent seller posts a high-demand item at a very low price. When you contact them, they claim multiple people want it and demand a quick Mobile Money deposit to "reserve" it or cover courier delivery. Once paid, they disappear.

✅ Safe Practice: Never pay advance deposits. Schedule an in-person public meetup or request iDieze on-site verification.

2. Fake SMS payment confirmation or manipulated screenshots 📲

The Trap: A fake buyer sends a fabricated screenshot or a fake SMS impersonating Orange Money or MTN Mobile Money.

✅ Safe Practice: Never rely on buyer screenshots. Always check your own real account balance on your phone before releasing the item.

3. Phishing Links & Fake PIN Requests 🎣

The Trap: Receiving messages claiming to be from iDieze or carrier security asking you to click an external link to "release funds" or input your PIN.

The Trap: Luxury brand clothing or expensive items offered at 90% below market value with stock/AI pictures.

5. The Rushed Courier Trick 🏍️

The Trap: A buyer sends a bike courier in a rush, claiming the money transfer is processing.
